Meta’s personal AI agent Muse has pulled in 3.4 million downloads since its September 8 launch, and at Connect 2026 the company detailed the plumbing that turns those downloads into transactions: a Shopify catalog connector, Stripe’s Link checkout, PayPal as a payment rail, and named integrations with Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, Wayfair and Expedia, with Instacart forthcoming. Apptopia counts 4.3 million cumulative installs (2.6 million on iOS); Appfigures pegs it at 2.3 million split roughly evenly between iOS and Android. The gap between measurement firms is itself a signal of how fast the curve is moving.
The growth shape matters. Muse averaged 55 percent day-over-day download growth from September 8 to 17, against ChatGPT’s 24 percent over its first ten days. It topped the U.S. App Store on September 18, Google Play on September 19, and by September 22 ranked among the top 10 brands by advertising spend. On Wednesday, the day Connect wrapped, daily active users climbed 27 percent. Sensor Tower attributes 6 percent of Meta’s ad impressions through September 19 to Muse promotion.
Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang said more than 1,500 developer applications to build connectors arrived in under a week, alongside launch partners GitHub, Granola and Notion. Muse Spark, Meta’s multimodal model for agentic work, sits underneath. Paid tiers run $20 and $100 per month.
The strategic subtext is unsubtle. Meta is guiding to $135 to $145 billion in 2026 AI capex, roughly double 2025, after Q2 spending consumed 98 percent of operating cashflow. Morgan Stanley models $1.3 billion in Muse-driven revenue by 2028; Raymond James sees more than $50 billion at scale. Amazon, reading the same map, updated its Conditions of Use in August 2026 to require shopping agents to identify themselves and stop mimicking human browsing.
For small merchants, the decision layer has shifted. Muse reads structured product data, not ad creative, echoing the discovery fragmentation covered in Taboola’s Realize ID launch and the Bazaarvoice finding that 94 percent of shoppers fact-check AI recommendations. Winning the auction no longer wins the sale.
